New Job

Well, so far 2007 seems to be a big year of changes for me (and my lovely fiance Jody), besides getting engaged last weekend, I also had a job interview the day after getting engaged, that interview went well and was followed up with another interview the following Thursday, which also went well (not as good as the first but not to bad none the less), that was followed up with reference calls and such, and this morning at about 9:45 I got a call and I am now a Bell Boy at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel downtown Calgary. Apparantly this is supposed to be a month long process but I managed to get it done in a week. I'm not sure exactly when I start but I am going in tomorrow to meet the execs., and probably work out my schedule. I'm pretty stoked, i already got me a place up in Edgemont, possesion date is at the end of the month. Things are moving right along here.

Jody will be continueing to work in Trochu and living in Three Hills so that will be tough to be away from her, but I will be coming home as often as my schedule allows. We figured this way I can work for about 6 months and get those bad shifts out of the way and hopefully by the time we are married I will have some regular shifts that will allow me to spend some quality time with my new wife. My house is for sale in Linden if anyone is interested, I have 3 people already looking, so that is exciting. Hopefully things aren't moving too fast... Thanks for all the prayers and support with the job change, it will be weird not working at Agri Centre and living in Linden...

Big News

Most of you know already, but some may not. I got engaged on Saturday!! I don't post many blogs, but I thought this postworthy, lol. It was also her birthday, (24th on the 24th) so it was a special day, we went to the Calgary Tower for lunch, very cool, i've never been there, loved the view. Then we walked over to the Devonian Gardens and walked around, it was packed in there, and I was nervous, and wanted to find a quiet place to pop the question. We found a secluded place, and she needed to rest so she sat down, it was perfect, a few people wandered by and i waited till they were gone, this is how it went. (we were also talking about Andy and Amy's reception there and saying how nice it was)

Clint: Ya, this would be a nice place to get married, eh?

Jody: yup, it sure would.

Clint: Probably a nice place to get engaged to?

Jody: Ya, you can definately bring me back here for that

(a few moments of silence as Clint ponders this)

Clint: Do I have to do the whole "get down on one knee" thing for you?

Jody: Of course you do!

Clint: Like this? (proceeds to get down on one knee and produce little purple box)

So now you have the play by play, Jody was very shocked, and very happy, afterwards we spent about 10 minutes texting and phoning everyone. Thanks to everyone who replied with congrats!

Valentine's Day!

I'm not sure how many of you listen to Vibe 98.5, I know I don't very often, i might flip to it now and then and if I hear them playing a song I like then I will keep it there. Anywho, Jody was listening to Vibe one day and overheard them advertising a give away of $98,000 for a dream wedding, I thought that was pretty neat so I checked it out on the website and checked out the details, and I thought "what the heck, I'll send in a letter". Now it said on the site to email in a letter expalining why you deserve to win, so I did that, send in a few pictures, and some contact info. I thought it was a good letter, so did everyone else who read it. They did the draw this morning at 7:15, and the couple that won entered into the draw yesterday morning just before the deadline and didn't acutally send in an email, they actually sent in a DVD with a puppet show and other stuff, kinda cheezy I thought, I guess they deserve it, they had a good story. It would have been nice to win. The big catch was you had to get married in 2 months, I hope they have a good time, it should be fun.

Jody and I talked about valentines day and figured we didn't like the hype and stuff, so we picked out our favorite chocolates and payed for each others, we bought the Chicken Little DVD and tonight we will have stirfry and then spend the evening with the jr. high youth, sounds like a fun filled valentines day to me.

The Raven

This will make for a large posting, but this is my favorite poem. I encourage people to read up on Poe, very interesting. (there is a little surprise at the end of the poem) enjoy!
EDGAR ALLAN POE
THE RAVEN

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -Only this, and nothing more.'

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrowFrom my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore -Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtainThrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating`'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; -This it is, and nothing more,'

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,`Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door; -Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream beforeBut the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!'This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!'Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -'Tis the wind and nothing more!'

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore. Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore; For we cannot help agreeing that no living human beingEver yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,With such name as `Nevermore.'

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -On the morrow will he leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,`Doubtless,' said I, `what it utters is its only stock and store,Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disasterFollowed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden boreOf "Never-nevermore."'

But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling,Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door; Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linkingFancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -What this grim, ungainly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yoreMeant in croaking `Nevermore.'

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressingTo the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core; This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease recliningOn the cushion's velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o'er,She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censerSwung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent theeRespite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil! -Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted -On this home by horror haunted - tell me truly, I implore -Is there - is there balm in Gilead? - tell me - tell me, I implore!'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!By that Heaven that bends above us - by that God we both adore -Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels named Lenore -Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels named Lenore?'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!' I shrieked upstarting -`Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!Leave my loneliness unbroken! - quit the bust above my door!Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sittingOn the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door; And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor; And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floorShall be lifted - nevermore!

What?! I'm posting a new blog? get out

Snow! I brought a shovel home from work with me today at lunch, and shoveled away! I forgot to last time, so there is that thin layer of ice under the fluffy snow, so it makes it that much harder to shovel, anywho, I finished all mine, and then noticed my neighbors wasn't done either, so away I went, I must be super out of shape or else being sick made it that much worse, but I was out of breath when i was done, i wish i was somewhere warm! But it wasn't all bad, i enjoy the feeling afterwards when i'm all sweaty and out of breath inside and I look outside to see the nice clean sidewalk, and i feel a bit healthier doing the labour, lol. Go away snow!
