Ain't It A Sad Thing - R. Dean Taylor

Hmmm, I seem to be on a lyrics kick lately, but this actually means something today, for you see, I have been searching for the lyrics and the artist name of this song for about 7 years. I could never find it because the words in the song that I had trouble understanding were the title of the song, and when i tried singing it to someone they didn't know it. It is a bit of a obscure song but finally this morning driving to Acme I heard the song on the radio, and I got my hopes up and sure enough I found out who it was and what the song was called. Now I am complete. And the funny thing was, that after hearing who the singer was, I realized that not only did I know who he was but I also enjoy many of his other songs. Hoorayyyy!! If you get the chance to download it or listen to it, it is one of my fav's. He also sings Indiana Wants Me, much more recognizable song, I think it came out in '71. So there you go!!

Ain't It A Sad Thing - R. Dean Taylor
Big brown tin can
Lying in the black sand
We used to lie there and watch the day
Now the leaves have all turned to grey
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
We can`t go there no more
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
The birds don`t sing, ain`t it a sad thing
Little child upon my knee
Holds a picture of a tree
Tears in his eyes say where`d they all go
The tears in mine say I really don`t know
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
We can`t go there no more
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
The birds don`t sing, ain`t it a sad thing
Listen to the wind blowing over the land
Listen to the reasons that you don`t understand
Reach out and take my hand and we`ll run run run run
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
We can`t go there no more
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
The birds don`t sing, ain`t it a sad thing
Cities eating up the land
Progress eating up the past
The writing`s in the slime on the sewer wall
You better look see or we`re all gonna fall
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
We can`t go there no more
Down by the river where the river don`t flow
The birds don`t sing, ain`t it a sad thing

Handsome Johnny - Richie Havens

Handsome Johnny - Richie Havens
Hey, look yonder, tell me what's that you seeMarching to the fields of Concord? It looks like Handsome Johnny with a musket in his hand,Marching to the Concord war, hey marching to the Concord war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you seeMarching to the fields of Gettysburg? It looks like Handsome Johnny with a flintlock in his hand,Marching to the Gettysburg war, hey marching to the Gettysburg war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what's that you seeMarching to the fields of Dunkirk? It looks like Handsome Johnny with a carbine in his hand,Marching to the Dunkirk war, hey marching to the Dunkirk war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you seeMarching to the fields of Korea? It looks like Handsome Johnny with an M1 in his hand,Marching to the Korean war, hey marching to the Korean war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you seeMarching to the fields of Vietnam? It looks like Handsome Johnny with an M15,Marching to the Vietnam war, hey marching to the Vietnam war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you seeMarching to the fields of Birmingham? It looks like Handsome Johnny with his hand rolled in a fist,Marching to the Birmingham war, hey marching to the Birmingham war.

Hey, it's a long hard road, it's a long hard road,It's a long hard road, before we'll be free.
Hey, what's the use of singing this song, some of you are not even listening.Tell me what it is we've got to do: wait for our fields to start glistening,Wait for the bullets to start whistling. Here comes a hydrogen bomb, here comes a guided missile,Here comes a hydrogen bomb: I can almost hear its whistle.

My Lunch Hour Today

We have kittens at the shop!! Very cute, lots of fun, very stinky, they have been doing their business on Lance's matt for the past few days. Anyways, two of them were really fluffy and rather chubby, Carmen has taken one home with her, Jersey's the name, the other fluffy one is here, with it's brother (short haired), the last two of the original six. Now as I mentioned before, they are messy, and eat a lot and crap a lot, and the one having long hair seemed to collect all his crap on his body and it was getting pretty gross, and I felt for the little guy, he looked miserable, he couldn't sit down, and he was meowing and such, so me, being the sucker for helping poor little kittens, took him home at lunch and gave him a bath. He didn't like it at all, and he was about half the size when I was done, I think he was in a bit of shock. But I dried him off, and set him in front of a heater and he laid there in bliss with a small dish of milk in front of him. Ten minutes later he was purring and rolling around, and playing (something he hadn't done in about 3 days). I brought him back to the shop to be reunited with his brother, and now he is sleeping comfortably under Lance's desk. We shall see how long it lasts.

I am changing the tune of my fiddle

I have decided to delete my other blog entries, they made people either angry or put points of views on there that twisted my original words, and that always makes things interesting. It is easy to read to much into something written instead of hearing it first hand. From now on the only blogs found here will be about things that make people happy or go "awwwww". If I feel like making someone angry perhaps I will post my comments on their blogs. lol, take the car!
